Low deposit car rental in Greece
Some local rental companies hold a small guarantee deposit when the car is collected. On Local Car Rentals the amount is shown on the company's cars before booking, with how it is held: in cash, on a card, or either. Most companies take none, and their cars say "No guarantee deposit held".
What the guarantee deposit is for
The guarantee deposit covers costs of the rental that come after the car is returned or that the driver may not settle at the desk: traffic and parking fines, tolls, missing fuel and similar costs. It is held by the rental company and returned under its conditions.
What it is not
The guarantee deposit is not the excess. Damage to the car is the driver's up to the excess stated for that car, as set out in the rental contract. Extra cover, where offered, lowers the excess.
What is shown before booking
- The amount of the guarantee deposit, or "No guarantee deposit held".
- How it is held: cash, card, or either.
- The excess for the cover chosen.
The same lines are printed on the voucher, and the company holds no more than the amount shown.
How the rental is paid
Nothing is paid online. The rental is paid to the rental company when the car is collected, in cash or by card. A booking can be cancelled free of charge until the car is collected.
Who rents the car
Local Car Rentals is a booking site, not a rental company. The car is rented from a local company, which hands it over and signs the rental contract with the driver. The terms are set out in the terms and conditions.
